P has been doing this shrieking thing lately... I think she just wants to be heard and trust me, she is. She especially likes to make this noise during church service ;)

P likes Peas!

Tonight we tried peas along with cereal. I think she liked them! Scout had fun "cleaning" her up.

Not to jinx it, but....

Diddy slept through the night last night! She went to sleep about 8:35 (only crying off and on for 13 minutes) and didn't wake up until 6:50! (The books consider 5-6 hours sleeping through the night) I brought her into bed with me, she nursed and went back to sleep until 10. Ran a few errands and we came home and she took a great nap! I'm in shock and PRAYING it's not a fluke. Everyone was right.... it takes about 3 days and then peace reigns on the household.

What a big girl...Part II

I had high hopes for last night.... Lane was able to get P down for a nap and she only fussed for a few minutes and slept for almost 3 hours.

Last night we bathed her, fed her and put her to bed. She fussed on and off for about an hour before she finally went to sleep. I really think she was overtired and just couldn't get herself wound down. She only woke up once last night!!!! BUT, again, it took her almost an hour to go back to sleep. She'd be completely quiet for awhile and then start crying. I know it will get better, but it hurts my heart to hear her crying.

Cross your fingers that tonight is easier and she still only wakes once! I've forgotten what 4+ hours of uninterrupted sleep feels like.

What a big girl...

When P was a newborn, she would only sleep on our chests. The pediatrician said we had to get her off our chests, so me being a new mom and trying to be gentle about the whole thing, thought we'd gradually get her to her crib. We successfully moved her off our chests, but she was still in bed with us. I swore I'd never co-sleep, but it's amazing how sleep deprivation will change your perspective. It was much easier nursing her in the middle of the night and what a great way to wake up... looking into your smiling baby's face!

We have some friends whose 3 year old is still in bed with them... I want P to be independent and don't want to have to lay with her at night to get her to sleep. Plus, it'll be much easier to find a babysitter since she won't have a crazy bedtime routine!!

We decided to transition her to her crib last night. 4 months is when our pediatrician says you can fuss/cry it out. She went down about 8:15... was up at 9:30, 11:15; 1:30, 3:30 and 7:45! Lane or I would go in after a few minutes to pat her and reassure her that she wasn't being abandoned (I think this was more for me). It took her, at most, 5 minutes to get herself back to sleep! I'm so encouraged by this. The only reason she woke up at 7:45 was because she leaked through her diaper.

She's now napping in her crib... another feat since she was either napping in her swing, carseat or on me during the day!

I told Lane I feel like she doesn't need me anymore..... But when I see her sleeping this peacefully, I'm ok with her not sleeping next to me!

Crazy week!

This has been one busy week!

Monday we met Kris for lunch and then P had her doctor's appointment, Tuesday I had an appointment and Lane stayed home with us all day, Wednesday was bible study and lunch with the girls, Thursday we met Mom and Allie at the mall and had dinner with the Renfrows and today we went over to Mom and Dad's and ran errands by their house! Tomorrow is game night and then Sunday is Sunday School and church.

We're blowing and going and P is starting to not cry as much in her carseat!

Sweet hubby brought home gorgeous lilies that smell divine and champagne tonight for our anniversary. I wasn't expecting anything since we went to the Melting Pot on Saturday night. I love surprises that involve flowers and alcohol!

Happy Anniversary

2 years ago I married my wonderful hubby!

Happy anniversary lovey... thanks for giving me the most beautiful little girl in the world. I love you!

4 months!

P Diddy is 4 months old! We had her well baby check today and she weighs 13 lbs 10 ozs (48th percentile) and is 24 inches long (39th percentile). She got 3 shots and an oral dose of the roto vaccine. We're cleared to start solids and developmentally she's on track or ahead! She's consistently rolling from her tummy to her back and is thisclose to flipping from her back to her tummy!

Mmmm good!

I've been trying to get P to eat cereal for a few days. She wasn't a huge fan of it until tonight! She was reaching for the bowl and sucking the spoon clean. In a way it's bittersweet.... she's growing up SO fast.

Busy bee

I read on someone's blog about feeling like they've been on a sabbatical when she had her daughter. I think that's the perfect description for me. The first couple of months I truly was on sabbatical from my "normal" life. As P is getting older, I feel the old me is slowly coming back into focus... granted, now I have a kiddo on my hip. We've started going to playdates with other babies born and I've added a women's bible study to "me" time.

I'm now on week 2 of the Couch to 5K program. Sunday I ran outside since it was such a gorgeous day! I think I'm more of a treadmill runner... I like seeing how long and how far I've gone. On my off days, P and I take a long walk in the afternoons. I think I'm slowly seeing results in how my clothes fit, but the scale has only budged a few pounds.

Walk the Line

I wasn't able to get my run in yesterday since we went to BWW to watch the BCS Championship game with the Barkleys. I decided to take P and Scout for a walk before we dropped her off at Mom and Dad's. This was the first time I took them both and I know why it's taken almost 4 months!

The wind was blowing 800 miles an hour, Scout had the leash out as far as it would go and kept walking in front of the stroller. Since he was zig zagging, the leash would get caught in the wheel and I'd have to stop to untangle us so the stroller wouldn't flip. Since it was trash day and the wind was blowing so hard we were having to dodge recyclables like they were IEDs... It was truly a comedy of errors and Scout will not be joining us on any future walks unless Lane is with us!! Lane called while we were walking and said, "you're pushing the stroller, holding on to the leash, AND talking on the phone?" Yep! A multi-tasking, modern mom!

Well, the cute red shoes hurt like a b!tch... they'll be added to the list of returns that didn't get done today. We did make it to Walmart and Lonestart Baby. P was great in the car!

Speaking of shoes, Lane and I were going through old pictures last night and I stumbled upon one from my junior year of college. I had just gotten the shoes that I'm running in now.... that was what, 2001 or 2002.... Lane is insistent on me getting new running shoes!! I think we might head to Run On tonight before we watch the BCS Championship. I think I'm going to like this running stuff... more things to shop for ;)

Closets and cabinets are done!! And I didn't sit up last night thinking about the next thing to organize!!! It's such a feeling of accomplishment even though Lane know says he won't be able to find anything. I think he'll be able to find it, but won't put it back in the right place.

Tomorrow's to do list:
- returns to BRU, Nordstrom, JCP, Barnes and Noble (buy Baby 411), and Walmart
- Lone Star Baby to look for a cute shopping cart cover (let me know if you have any online recs for a cute, girly one)
-complete last day of week 1 C25K

Who am I kidding? I seriously doubt we'll get to all those places since Miss P HATES her carseat so we only have a limited radius we can travel unless I want to deal with a complete meltdown. And since she hates her carrier, I have to carry her or use the Baby Bjorn.

Look at these super cute "mom" shoes I bought today after church. I think they'll be perfect for spring with jeans or capris.

Organization Gone Wild!

Not sure whats gotten in to me the last few days, but I am in a throwing away mood. Not that I'm a hoarder, but there's just been piles of stuff piling up since P was born. I think it also has something to do with wanting to put the house on the market and 1. not wanting to move extra crap and 2. wanting the house to look as good as it can.

Yesterday I cleaned out and shredded the outdated stuff in our filing cabinet (lease from my last apartment anyone?). Then laying in bed until about 2:30 am, I mentally organized the hall closet, the kitchen cabinets, and the closet under the stairs. I've already tackled the hall closet this morning and once my wonderful husband gets home from playing golf and can take the kiddo, I'm going after the cabinets. I think the label maker might go into overdrive!

Now if you know me at all, you know most people would look at my house and say it's totally organized, but in my anal retentive mind it's in complete disarray. Lane loves this side of me ;)

Before I got pregnant, I found a workout program called Couch to 5K. Basically it gets you off your butt and running a 5K in 9 weeks. I was telling my friend Elaine about it when she wanted something to help her get the baby weight off. She has a friend that did it and was super successful. Sasha helped Elaine through the program and Elaine looks AMAZING!

I've always wanted to be a runner... don't ask me why, but I do! Since I'm stuck at a weight I'm not happy with (because of the wonderful Miss P), I decided to give C25K a try. I LOVE it!! I made it through 2 workouts without modifying the program one bit. I'm hoping that I can at least tone up before swimsuit season even if the numbers on the scale don't drop until I stop nursing.

Party Girl

Payton went to her first birthday party on Saturday. Reese turned 2 and we were guests at her Texas Two-step party.

On New Year's Day we went to Rockwall to visit the Barkleys and congratulate them on the buns in the oven. Yes, they're having twins!! While we were there, Payton finally met Trent G. He's 6 months old... I can't believe the difference 3 months makes.
