Sneak Peek!

We decided to splurge on a professional photographer for P's 1 year pics and thought we should take a few family shots too.

Miss Priss was starting to get sick and was NOT having it that morning. She normally hams it up as soon as she sees a camera! I'm actually shocked we got 1 that would pass as decent let alone this one (not sure what's up with my cheesy grin, but....) We had to reschedule P's individual shots to this Thursday and our photog said she'd have the whole gallery up this weekend.

Clearly you get what you pay for. I'm thinking since we won't be going at such regular intervals, we'll make room in the budget for pro pics once or twice a year!

I'm 1!!!

ONE-ders of the Sea!

It was a little warmer than forecasted but it was still a great party!

The food was set up along the bar in the kitchen. Allie and I came up with cute names for the different dishes, and I made little cards with the details.
The menu:
octopus stew (bbq weenies) (cocktail weenie with the bottom cut twice. when you boil them, it curls up, making them look like little octopi)
sea snails (deli rollups)
clam shells (chicken salad croissants)
sand bar shrimp (shrimp cocktail)
raspberry coral (raspotle and cream cheese)
sand dollars (chips and crackers)
crab claws (red apple slices with apple dip)
crustacean crudites (veggie platter)
blue kool-aid
sweet tea
water
Malibu with pineapple juice (mommy juice)
The cupcakes with under the sea picks were set up on sand colored tulle to make The Desserted Island (kitchen table). The frame is my Mother's Day present... (Lane ordered all the pictures and filled it until May)... pictures of P from every month!

Lane's air compressor wasn't working, so they had to blow up the small pools by hand.

We put the small pools and chairs under the awesome tent (thanks Doug and Mere!) so the little ones could play in the shade.

We borrowed the huge slide from Lane's sister. It was a hit with all the kiddos!!!

I also made apple juice pops with gummy worms... once they were frozen and turned up, they looked like little jellyfish!

ONE-ders of the Sea!

Tomorrow is the big birthday bash for Miss Priss! We're having a ONE-ders of the Sea party in our backyard complete with a huge water slide and smaller pools for the little ones.

The weather should be perfect!
We have almost 50 people coming!!! Granted, 15 of them are kiddos, but still... it's a good thing we'll be outside. We are so blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family!

I'll be busy today doing all the last minute "stuff" that comes with having a house full of people!

Recap with pics to follow....

Home Again Home Again Jiggity Jig

Ahhhhhh! It's so good to be home! I wasn't feeling up to it, but decided to go with Lane and Payton to Birmingham on Thursday morning. I figured that if P got the stomach bug, then her Momma needed to be there with her, regardless of how I felt. She ended up with the poopy part of it, but other than her blistered bum, you wouldn't look at that sweet baby and think she was sick.

We ate dinner with Jay and Ashley on Thursday night sans Payton and last night we went over to Micah and Sam's for the Auburn game. Not that it was much of a game... seriously 3 points scored the ENTIRE game and you are a highly ranked team... something isn't right with that picture.

I'm busy today sterilizing the house and getting things set out and in order for Payton's party on Saturday!!!

Seriously?

Now that the upper respiratory crud has left me, I've managed to catch the horrific stomach bug that's going around... by horrific I mean both ends and never feeling relief. Not fun, not fun at all. I'm praying Payton doesn't get it... I can't deal with me feeling nauseous while cleaning up her mess.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

I can't believe I forgot to push publish on this post! (Written on August 22)
Happy 50th birthday!
I love you so much and am so proud to be your daughter. I'm a Daddy's girl in every sense of the word and don't think there's anything wrong with that! You work so hard, but I know you're always there... no matter what! You are such an example to me and Allie as to how a husband should treat their wife and how a dad should act toward his children. You've always supported me and told me I could do anything I put my mind to. You taught me to that it's right to have an opinion (and state it) and to be a independent, successful woman. It seems like we're always laughing about something. I love you and will always be "your girl".

So happy to be a g-pa!
