4D Sonogram

We scheduled a 4D sonogram for Thursday night so Allison, Mom and Dad could come see Payton. She had other plans and was being quite stubborn and kept her hand and arm in front of her face, so we didn't get very good pictures. Lane keeps saying "Stubborn like her Momma".... who me???

Stork Vision was nice enough to bring us back on Saturday to see if she would cooperate. Nonnie came up for the shower so she was able to come see the live action with everyone else! Payton is pretty squished in there and it scares me to think of where she'll go as she grows and gets closer to delivery. If you look closely, you can see Miss Payton in all her glory. It'll be interesting to compare these photos once she's here!

I think she looks like an angel here... complete with a set of wings!

What's in a name????

Several weeks ago I asked Lane if we could have a named picked out by the last weekend in June.... It was for purely selfish reasons since Mom and I were going to First Monday and I wanted to be able to embroider things if I found them. Surprisingly, Lane said yes and that it was time to name her anyway! I kept suggesting names and Lane kept shooting them down. We had one name that we always came back to, but Lane was worried we'd find something better. After going through what felt like a million names, I told Lane there was nothing wrong with the going with the first name since we always came back to it. After some "marinating" on it, he agreed. Payton Elizabeth will be here soon!!! We both think it's great to be able to call her by name instead of Baby C or Baby Girl.

Labor and Delivery

Lane and I got the tour of Labor and Delivery a few months early....

Yesterday afternoon I went the the grocery store. Lane helped me carry the groceries in and I started putting them away. After I had everything where I wanted it, I started feeling extremely dizzy. I sat down on the couch and my vision was extremely blurry in my right eye. I thought maybe my blood sugar was low since I hadn't eaten anything since 11:00 am and it was now 5:00 pm. I ate a banana and a few apple slices with peanut butter and I still didn't feel better. Not wanting to be the "paranoid pregnant lady", I called my mom to see if she thought it sounded seriously enough for me to page the on call doctor. I ended up paging the doctor and she called back within 2 minutes. I explained to her the symptoms, she asked if I was home alone and I said no. She then said I needed to get to the hospital! When we were about half way to the hospital, my right hand started going numb.... then it moved into my arm. We made it up to labor and delivery and I couldn't feel my right hand, right arm, right side of my face or my tongue. When I couldn't write my name or remember my social security number, I started to get a little scared.

They had a room ready for me, so I put on the pretty gown, peed in a bucket thing they had on the toilet, then got into bed to wait for the nurse to come in. She hooked me up to a contraction monitor, a fetal monitor, and a blood pressure cuff that would take my BP at regular intervals. Mom and Dad got to the room after all the prep work was done.

The nurse was AMAZING! So laid back and just a nice person! My regular OB wasn't on call, but the doctor for her practice that was there was fantastic as well! They drew blood and then we just had to wait for the lab to run all the tests. They said prior to the blood draw that my BP looked fine, she was moving great, and I wasn't having any contractions! The reason we had to wait so long to get the test results back was because my doctor was delivering a baby next door!!!! The mom screamed 1 time and then all you heard was this little cry. I hope I'm that lucky.

The blood work came back normal, but the doctor wanted me to stay home today to rest and get really hydrated. I've been instructed to do kick counts - making sure she kicks at least 10 times in 2 hours. What a way to spend my birthday!!! Oh well, as long as Baby C is healthy, it's ok with me. I'm still feeling some dizziness, but it's not nearly as bad as yesterday. I still have my regular appointment on Thursday - I have my 1 hour glucose test! We'll keep you posted with any other developments!

Update!

I had another sonogram this morning and everything looks GREAT! My fluid level is the same as it was last week, so there's no leaking. Dr wants me to drink lots of water (I totally am) and lay on my left side whenever I can. Baby C was moving all over the place today and is still as cute as ever.

Now, if we can just get this name thing going.......

Prayers please!

At the last doctors appointment, the sonographer checked my amniotic fluid level and thought it was a little low. The doctor didn't seem too concerned.... I called today because stuff just doesn't feel "right" and she wants me to come in tomorrow to make sure the fluid level hasn't decreased. So far this has been a very uneventful pregnancy (a few weeks of feeling blah very early on and that was it) and I would love for it to stay that way! Just say a little prayer that everything is fine and I'm just peeing myself or something ;)

Fun times!

Lane and I bought the crib and dresser a while ago and decided to go ahead and put them together to get the boxes out of the garage. Mom and Dad came over to supervise and help. It's a good thing because apparently the dresser was a pain to put together.

It's a......

GIRL!!!!!!

Lane and I went this morning to Stork Vision (an elective sonogram place) to find out the gender of Baby C. The tech immediately told us it was a girl. I'm still in shock. For some reason, I was thinking boy.... even had the bedding picked out ;) So much for my mother's intuition.

We're both thrilled! She was a little sleepy this morning and didn't want to show off for Mommy and Daddy - but at least she didn't have her legs crossed.

Kicks?

Well, I think I'm feeling Baby C move! I've been feeling flutters and "popcorn" for several weeks now and questioned if it was the baby or something else. It definitely isn't constant, but it is increasing as I grow.

Quad screen results

Dr F's office called on Friday and everything looks great! All levels on the quad screen came back within a normal range. Lane was very impressed with me not stressing over the results the days prior and honestly, so am I.

We'll be doing an elective sonogram on Saturday to find out the gender of Baby C!!! Then 3 weeks later, we'll have the sono at the doctor's office so they can measure the baby's growth. It wasn't easy convincing Lane to do the elective sono, but somehow....... I can't wait to know, so shopping can truly begin and we can start thinking seriously about names.

11 weeks 5 days

03/06/2007

We had our second OB appointment today.... after Baby C gave us a little scare (Doctor F couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler... so, we got an unscheduled sonogram), he or she is doing great! Measuring exactly 11 weeks 5 days (we have a little perfectionist on our hands), heartbeat was 170 bpm. We saw and heard the heartbeat - what an amazing sound! - and saw the little nose and little fingers! We'll be telling our friends that don't know as we see/talk to them, but I won't be telling work for another few weeks.

What a difference a month makes! Baby C looks like an actual baby!!!!

7 weeks 5 days

02/06/2007

We went to the doctor today for our first appointment. It took almost 2 hours, but was SO worth it when we had the ultrasound. Baby C is measuring right on track at 7 weeks 4 days and a heartbeat of 156 bpm!!! The most amazing sight and sound ever!
